Social Studies
The primary focus of the fourth grade social studies curriculum is Pennsylvania. Students study the geography of the Keystone State along with general map skills. The history of PA is examined beginning with William Penn and the American Revolution (from the PA viewpoint). We will also explore the American Civil War. Finally we explore our state's government and economics. In addition to our textbook, we use a variety of resources to supplement the curriculum. A field trip to Harrisburg in the spring incorporates many of the topics learned throughout the year.

ELA- Reading and Writing
We follow Lucy Calkins Reading and Writing Workshop. Students will be taught mini lessons at the beginning of each class and then work independently to practice the skills taught through mentor texts. Teachers will meet in strategy groups and hold one-on-one conferences with students to better differentiate and meet your child's needs.
